Results

General Information

The Results module contains information about all results of conducted medical-diagnostic tests and other diagnostic activities registered in the National Health Information System (NHIS). Records are arranged in chronological order. Information about the test itself, its national reference number (NRN), date when it was conducted, and laboratory that performed it, is displayed. For each test conducted, source of funding is also shown – National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF), Ministry of Health, patient’s expense, private health insurance fund, or other.*Different laboratories have different reference values for indicators. Reference values and results in NHIS are are provided by the laboratory that conducted the test.

Key functionalities

For each conducted quantitative laboratory test, results are displayed along with the permissible reference values for the respective indicator. Values that are outside the reference range are highlighted in red. Results that are higher in reference range are accompanied by an upward arrow, while lower values are accompanied by a downward arrow.

Results contain information about: date of sampling; medical-diagnostic laboratory that performed the test; National Reference Number (NRN) of the e-referral, if funded by NHIF; NRN of the examination because of which test was conducted, and medical specialist who issued the referral for the test.

Module also includes results from X-ray and imaging studies. Detailed information about the conducted study is available - interpretation of results and specialist's conclusion.

Through special icons, a direct link can be established to all documents related to a test. For tests funded by the NHIF, these include the referral and examination during which the document was issued.

Module also contains information about the medical specialist who issued the referral and their Unique Identifying Number (UIN). If their email or phone number is entered, they can be directly accessed via the icon located next to doctor’s name.

Stages of testing and recording of results

  1. 1 Doctor issues a referral for a laboratory test, funded by NHIF/ private health insurance fund, or user themselves decides to get tested at their own expense.

  2. 2 User visits a laboratory or medical facility where test is conducted.

    If there is a rereferral for a laboratory test, the laboratory/ medical facility must download and process the e-referral from NHIS. You can learn more about the stages of issuing, downloading, and processing referrals.
  3. 3 Reference values and completed results are submitted by the laboratory/ medical facility to NHIS and become part of user's electronic health record. Results that are outside the normal reference values are marked in red, with an upward arrow for elevated values and a downward arrow for lower values. User has an option to see only those results that are outside the norm.

  4. 4 If user uses eZdrave mobile application and has allowed notifications, they will receive a notification for new test results in their electronic health record.

*Medical and non-medical specialists in medical and health facilities are obligated to create an electronic health record in the NHIS, regardless of the health insurance status of citizens and source of funding for the respective activity. This is recorded in Article 28g, paragraphs 3a and 3b of the Health Act.
