Users of eZdrave mobile application now have a new option to grant selected medical professionals access to their personal electronic health records. This is possible through new Access management module, available both in eZdrave mobile app and in the health portal my.his.bg.
Until now, full access to information in our electronic health records was mainly limited to general practitioners and TEMC committees during their sessions. With the new functionality, we can independently decide which doctor to share this information with and, when necessary, grant access to other specialists or dental professionals.
This means that when we visit a cardiologist, surgeon, endocrinologist, dentist, or another specialist, we can share important medical information directly from our records. Instead of providing paper documents, we will be able to grant electronic access to all examinations, tests, diagnoses, prescriptions, and other medical records.
Control over access to medical information remains entirely in hands of patient. Users can independently select a specific doctor from a list containing names, specialties, and a unique identification number (UIN) of medical professional. In addition, doctors themselves can submit access requests, which the patient can either approve or decline.
When a request is submitted, the user will receive a notification in the application, provided that notifications are enabled. For children’s profiles, access can be granted following confirmation by a parent.
The functionality has been developed by Information Services and is part of the next phase in development of eHealth in Bulgaria. Its aim is to reduce administrative burden, minimize paper-based documentation, and facilitate easier sharing of medical information where it is needed. All of this is intended to provide better service, greater convenience, and higher security for all Bulgarian citizens.
