Children’s personal health cards can now be issued electronically. This was discussed this morning at a joint meeting with the Minister of Health, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Silvi Kirilov, MD, the Minister of e-Government Valentin Mundrov, Information Services, and representatives of Bulgarian Medical Association and the National Association of General Practitioners.
“Digitalization is a priority for the Ministry of Health. The goal of everything we do is to gradually reduce the administrative burden for all medical professionals, as well as to make things easier for parents and citizens,” said Minister Kirilov.
“Removal of health cards is a commitment we made both to parents and to you – doctors - and this commitment has been fulfilled. Our efforts to further develop the system continue, and we count on your cooperation,” said Minister Mundrov.
During the meeting, a demonstration of the system was given. The system will be accessed by medical professionals in the health offices of educational institutions.
It already contains information from medical examinations conducted so far.
In addition to the digitalization of health cards, the new provisions in Ordinance No. 3 on health requirements for kindergartens also eliminate need to present medical clearance notes.
“We are currently in the process of transferring historical data on children’s immunizations from the National Health Insurance Fund system to the National Health Information System (NHIS), aiming to be ready by September 15,” said Boris Kostadinov, Director of the “Software Integration” Directorate at Information Services.
Starting tomorrow, training sessions for medical professionals from kindergartens and schools across the country are scheduled to begin.
