Historical data on immunizations administered to Bulgarian citizens has now been integrated into electronic health records.
Ministry of Health expresses its gratitude to National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) for providing data, and to Information Services for technical processing and transfer of information.
More than 19 million records of administered vaccines from 2005 to present have been processed and integrated, which includes all mandatory immunizations and re-immunizations, as well as recommended vaccines registered in NHIF system.
Thanks to this integration, electronic health records of over 4 million citizens now include their immunization history. We remind that, in addition to accessing their own health information, parents of children under 18 automatically have access to their children's health records via National Health Information System (NHIS) and eZdrave mobile application.
Due to changes in vaccine registration nomenclature over the past two decades, multiple checks were performed during data transfer to minimize risk of errors and duplicate records.
This is another important step in development of electronic patient record with reliable, structured, and easily accessible medical information.
