"I expect that next year integration of our parents’ health records into our profiles in eZdrave app will be completed.", said Minister of Electronic Governance Valentin Mundrov during the opening of the 7th International Congress of the Bulgarian Medical Association. "Just as our children's records were integrated into our profiles, it is necessary to have visibility into those of our parents as well," added the minister. He also said that this is the tool through which, using modern technologies, we can help our elderly parents receive timely and necessary healthcare.
"In the era of digital rights, citizens expect to control their data and receive services without unnecessary obstacles. With apps like eZdrave, which is already used by thousands of Bulgarians, we are making healthcare personalized – such as notifications for examinations, access to medical records via phone, and secure sharing with doctors," said Valentin Mundrov to the medical community.
The Minister of Electronic Governance added that the goal of the executive branch is to build trust among people and show that the state works for them, not against them. "By giving citizens the opportunity to check their prescriptions, entitled preventive examinations, laboratory tests, and vaccinations online, they not only save time but also feel part of a modern system that values them," the minister added.
According to Mundrov, electronic healthcare also ensures a fairer distribution of resources. He noted that it guarantees even distribution of medications in pharmacies across the country and helps prevent abuse of referrals for specialist consultations. "That’s why centralized registries and nomenclatures were created in the National Health Information System, which enable better control - for example, the electronic prescription, which prevents duplication and ensures that medications reach those who need them most," the Minister of Electronic Governance further stated. He emphasized that digitalization is a tool that reduces administrative burden and restores professional dignity of doctors, allowing them to be physicians rather than bureaucrats.
The minister stressed that electronic healthcare is not an option, but a duty to the future. "That’s why, together with the Ministry of Health and the Bulgarian Medical Association, we will continue to build on what has been achieved to ensure access to quality care for every Bulgarian," said Valentin Mundrov.
