A total of 1,760 reports of irregularities were submitted by citizens through eZdrave mobile application within a single month. The new functionality for online reporting of unauthorized healthcare activities was launched on 1 August 2026. The control bodies of National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) have initiated 560 inspections based on the submitted reports, which are currently being processed. Most reports concern medical examinations, referral results, and hospitalizations at healthcare institutions in Sofia, Varna, Plovdiv, and Burgas.
The Public Oversight module enables eZdrave users to report irregularities directly through the mobile application in real time. Within their profile, each citizen can view reported healthcare activities, including the type of service, reference number, physician, date, primary and accompanying diagnoses, and other details. If a user does not recognize a reported activity, they can submit a report with just two taps in the application and after providing a contact phone number and email address, the report is confirmed. The report is automatically registered, and assigned to the relevant supervisory authority, either Regional Health Inspectorate (RHI), Regional Health Insurance Fund (RHIF), or the Executive Agency Medical Supervision. The results of the inspection are then delivered electronically to the user through a specialized system within the mobile application.
For events recorded in linked child profiles, reports are submitted by the parent.
The number of active users of the mobile application has reached 450,000, with an additional 250,000 linked profiles connected to them. The system currently registers approximately 1,100 new eZdrave users every day.
